Iran attacks Israel

Iran attack on Israel

Israel reported that Iran directed a barrage consisting of 170 drones, over 30 cruise missiles, and more than 120 ballistic missiles toward its territory.

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, the Israeli military spokesperson, stated that Israel and its allies successfully intercepted 99% of the incoming assault. He noted that all drones and cruise missiles were shot down before reaching Israel, but several ballistic missiles managed to breach defenses, resulting in minor damage to the Nevatim airbase in the southern Negev desert.

Hagari disclosed that 12 individuals sustained injuries, including a seven-year-old girl who reportedly suffered head injuries from shrapnel. Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner, an IDF spokesperson, informed Sky News that the girl was in critical condition. The Agence France-Presse news agency revealed she hailed from the Bedouin community near the southern town of Arad and was under intensive care.

The drones’ loud engines indicated they were likely slow-flying Shahed-136s, with a flight time of six hours from Iran to Israel. However, some Israeli media suggested Iran employed jet-engined Shahed-238s, which can travel three times faster and match the timeframe of the overnight events.
