Lets zoom in on a recent development regarding Trump’s conviction. During a visit to Monroe, in North Carolina, to support conservative congressional candidate Mark Harris on Friday, House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, was surprised by a reporter’s question about fresh allegations from former President Donald Trump’s New York lawfare trial that could potentially result in a mistrial!
Now, more specifically, Judge Juan Merchan wrote a letter to Trump’s attorneys and prosecutors with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, notifying them of a Facebook comment that was discovered under a routine court post dated May 29, the day before a jury convicted Trump of 34 felonies. The commenter, identifying himself as a juror’s cousin by the name of Michael Anderson, appeared to offer some advance inside knowledge about the verdict; which, of course, would then mean that the verdict was premeditated! In his letter, Merchan claimed he had JUST learned of the comment, and did not clarify whether the person who posted the comment was indeed related to a juror.
However, it is also worth noting that Judge Merchan, who is a Biden donor, was widely criticized for his biased rulings throughout the trial and was even suspected of receiving bribes through his daughter, whose digital marketing firm drew millions of dollars from Democrat politicians—some of whom became involved directly in the case. In any case, Merchan’s brief letter did not outline any sort of follow-up steps, although it is expected that the court will investigate the matter and declare a mistrial if juror misconduct were established. But, having observed the trial itself, this is not a matter that should be left to the discretion of the judge; or even to republicans themselves. In the wake of Trump’s felony convictions, House Republicans have faced brutal criticism from some for their inaction, with Jordan, in particular, bearing the brunt of it over his failure to live up to his promise as a GOP strongman—instead becoming the champion of the “strongly worded letter.” In any case, the House did initiate in January last year The House Weaponization of the Federal Government Committee, on “Lawfare” with particular focus on former President Trump’s hush money trial, Michael Cohen, and Judge Juan Merchan. Although, they have not met since Trump’s conviction.
Well, his remarks are absolutely correct. In fact, we emphasized yesterday that this weaponization of institutions and laws against Trump has garnered him more support because Trump has become a lot more relatable, as many Americans are realizing (or being reminded) that they are not exempt from similar treatment. And, once again, It’s the same reason nations are lining up to join BRICS+; it is because they realized that if the dollar can be weaponized against Russia, then they weren’t so secure in a world where the dollar has reserve currency status. But, despite Jim Jordan’s remarks, Americans are not satisfied with even the existence of The House Weaponization of the Federal Government Committee, as a means of response.
Well, in any case, Trump long made it clear that the weaponization of laws against him would not stop him, as he spoke against his indictment a year ago, and it appears he is keeping to those words. Here he is a year ago.
