Speaking at a high-level military conference in New Delhi, General Dwivedi highlighted growing regional threats and the rapid evolution of modern warfare. He called for immediate upgrades in defense capabilities, strategic planning, and personnel training.

“We must fight this battle together  with unity, clarity of mission, and unwavering focus,” he said.

General Dwivedi pointed to recent global conflicts as cautionary examples, citing the role of technology, cyber operations, drones, and unconventional tactics in transforming battlefields and catching unprepared militaries off guard.

Though he did not name any specific adversaries, analysts believe his remarks are aimed at border tensions with China and Pakistan, as well as emerging security challenges in the Indian Ocean region. The Indian Army has recently accelerated modernization efforts, including domestic defense production, AI integration, and joint exercises with key partners like the U.S., France, and Australia.

Conclusion:

With the region facing increasing volatility, General Dwivedi’s warning signals a strategic shift in India’s defense doctrine from reaction to proactive preparedness. Military planners are now under pressure to translate that urgency into tangible reforms before the next crisis unfolds.

Heavy Rains and Landslides Hamper Rescue Operations in Northern India https://ln24international.com/2025/08/07/heavy-rains-and-landslides-hamper-rescue-operations-in-northern-india/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=heavy-rains-and-landslides-hamper-rescue-operations-in-northern-india https://ln24international.com/2025/08/07/heavy-rains-and-landslides-hamper-rescue-operations-in-northern-india/#respond Thu, 07 Aug 2025 11:02:12 +0000 https://ln24international.com/?p=26430 Village submerged in mud and debris as Uttarakhand reels from sudden floods; dozens remain missing.

Torrential rains and landslides have crippled rescue efforts in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, after sudden flooding on Tuesday left at least four people dead and dozens missing.

Emergency teams from the Indian Army and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are working round-the-clock to reach Dharali, a remote Himalayan village in Uttarkashi district, that was completely submerged under a mass of sludge, rocks, and floodwaters.

Authorities said that multiple homes were swept away and vital road links cut off as rivers overflowed due to a cloudburst. Rescue teams, using heavy machinery and bulldozers, are attempting to clear debris and reopen blocked mountain roads to reach survivors.

“We are facing significant challenges. The terrain is treacherous, and continuing rainfall is making it even more dangerous,” said an SDRF official on site.

Drone footage and images shared by local media show the entire landscape of Dharali buried in thick mud and rock, with collapsed rooftops barely visible above the debris. The sudden deluge also affected nearby tourist routes, stranding several travelers in high-altitude regions.

Red Alert Issued
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for continued heavy rainfall in parts of Uttarakhand over the next 48 hours. Officials warn that additional landslides or flash floods could occur.

Frequent Monsoon Tragedies
Uttarakhand is particularly vulnerable during India’s monsoon season, which lasts from June to September. The region’s steep terrain and rapid urbanization often exacerbate the effects of heavy rain.

In recent years, experts have raised concerns over climate change, deforestation, and unregulated construction contributing to the increasing frequency and intensity of such disasters.

Heavy Rains, Landslides Hamper Rescue Efforts in Northern India’s Uttarakhand https://ln24international.com/2025/08/06/heavy-rains-landslides-hamper-rescue-efforts-in-northern-indias-uttarakhand/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=heavy-rains-landslides-hamper-rescue-efforts-in-northern-indias-uttarakhand https://ln24international.com/2025/08/06/heavy-rains-landslides-hamper-rescue-efforts-in-northern-indias-uttarakhand/#respond Wed, 06 Aug 2025 08:17:34 +0000 https://ln24international.com/?p=26410 Dozens missing as army and rescue teams battle blocked roads and dangerous conditions following flash floods.

Uttarakhand, India  August 6, 2025   Ongoing heavy rain and landslides have severely hampered rescue efforts in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, after flash floods swept through the region on Tuesday, killing at least four people and leaving dozens missing.

Rescue teams from the Indian Army and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed to reach Dharali village, a popular Himalayan tourist destination in Uttarkashi district, but access remains difficult due to blocked mountain roads and continuous rainfall.

“The terrain is extremely unstable, and frequent landslides are making it nearly impossible to bring in equipment or personnel,” said a senior SDRF official. “Our priority is to reach the stranded villagers and tourists as quickly as possible.”

Local authorities confirmed that multiple homes and vehicles were swept away by sudden flash floods triggered by a cloudburst in the region. Drone footage released by emergency teams shows debris-strewn valleys and swollen rivers surging dangerously close to inhabited areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for further heavy rain in the area over the next 48 hours.

Tourist Impact and Evacuations:
Hundreds of tourists visiting the region during the monsoon season are currently stranded. Temporary shelters have been set up in safer locations, and helicopters are on standby for aerial evacuation if weather conditions improve.

Background:
Uttarakhand, located in the Himalayan foothills, is prone to landslides and flash floods during the monsoon months of July and August. In recent years, climate change and unregulated construction have intensified the scale and frequency of such disasters.
