During the April 2025 Global Communion Service, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome shared a powerful message that focused on three central themes: divine health, covenant kindness, and God’s favor. He began by addressing the importance of health in the life of a believer, drawing from 3 John 1:2, which emphasizes that God desires His people not only to prosper but also to live in good health. Pastor Chris challenged the widely accepted belief that sickness is inevitable, urging believers to embrace divine health as God’s plan. He reminded the congregation that Jesus gave us the gift of a life free from illness and that we should make the decision to live in health at all times.
The message then turned to the story of David and Jonathan, highlighting the covenant bond between them. Pastor Chris emphasized how Jonathan, even in the face of his own potential loss, made a covenant with David that transcended natural circumstances. This covenant was later honored by David when, after Jonathan’s death, he sought out Jonathan’s son, Mephibosheth, who had been living in desolation. David’s act of kindness, bringing Mephibosheth from a life of poverty to sit at the king’s table, demonstrated God’s limitless kindness. Pastor Chris explained that just as David showed kindness to Mephibosheth for Jonathan’s sake, God’s ultimate kindness toward us is rooted in His covenant, particularly through Jesus Christ.
Lastly, Pastor Chris declared April as the Month of Favours, a time when God is looking to bless His people. Drawing from the story of Joseph in Genesis 39:21-23, where God gave him success and favor in everything he did, Pastor Chris encouraged the congregation to expect God’s favor in their lives. He reminded them that God is actively seeking someone to bless and that His favor will overflow in unexpected ways. He urged believers to position themselves as instruments of blessing, anticipating a month where God singles them out for His favor and prosperity.
In closing, Pastor Chris encouraged everyone to thank God in advance for the divine favor and blessings that will manifest throughout the month, trusting in God’s covenant promises of health, kindness, and abundance.
