Putin to Host Inaugural Russia-Arab Summit in October

Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended invitations to all heads of state and the secretary general of the Arab League to attend the first-ever Russia-Arab summit, scheduled for October 15. The announcement was made through a statement released by the Kremlin.

“I believe this meeting will play a significant role in deepening our mutually beneficial cooperation across various sectors and in exploring solutions to promote peace, security, and stability in the Middle East and North Africa,” Putin said, according to the statement.

The Arab League is a regional bloc made up of 22 member countries from the Middle East and parts of Africa, working together on political, economic, and security-related issues.

The announcement comes shortly after a four-day visit to the Gulf region by U.S. President Donald Trump. During the trip, several agreements were announced, including a pledge from Saudi Arabia to invest $600 billion in the United States, a $142 billion arms deal, and a new artificial intelligence collaboration with the United Arab Emirates.
