French President Emmanuel Macron reiterated his support on Wednesday for a two-state solution to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, emphasising that France’s stance in the Middle East is consistent and fair.
According to diplomatic sources and analysts, Macron appears to be moving closer to formally recognizing a Palestinian state—an action that could provoke strong reactions from Israel and potentially cause divisions among Western nations. Speaking while on a visit to Indonesia, he underscored the need for a lasting political resolution.
“Only a political solution can bring lasting peace,” Macron stated. He also announced plans for an upcoming conference on Gaza, to be held in New York in collaboration with Saudi Arabia, aimed at advancing the recognition of both a Palestinian state and Israel’s right to exist in peace and security.
