European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has warned that the EU will respond if the U.S. moves forward with a 30% tariff on European products starting August 1.

She emphasised that the EU is ready to protect its interests and remains open to negotiating an agreement before that date.

Von der Leyen highlighted that few economies match the EU’s commitment to openness and fair trade, and stated that the bloc is prepared to implement appropriate countermeasures if needed.
