Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Tuesday that he had a “productive” conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, during which they discussed efforts to end the war, sanctions against Russia, and the completion of a drone production agreement between the U.S. and Ukraine.
Trump, who has recently shown frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin, has reportedly set an August 8 deadline for a peace agreement to be reached, warning that Russia could face stricter sanctions if no progress is made.
“President Trump is fully informed about Russian strikes on Kyiv and other cities and communities,” Zelenskyy wrote on X, referring to intensifying drone and missile attacks.
He added that Ukraine was also ready to conclude a deal with the U.S. on the production of Ukrainian drones that would amount to “one of the strongest agreements.”
Ukraine is increasingly working to attract foreign investment and support to expand its domestic arms industry.
