Zelenskyy Hopes Alaska Summit Will Lead to Ukraine-Russia-US Peace Talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasised the importance of the upcoming summit in Alaska between Russia and the U.S. as a potential starting point for achieving a fair peace and initiating meaningful three-way discussions involving Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.

Zelenskyy highlighted that ending the war requires decisive actions from Russia and expressed hope that the U.S. would support this effort.

The meeting between the U.S. and Russian leaders was scheduled to take place at an air force base in Alaska, focusing on a possible ceasefire agreement aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which has been the deadliest in Europe since World War II. The U.S. president stated he would not negotiate on Ukraine’s behalf and would leave decisions about territorial exchanges up to Kyiv.

Zelenskyy described the situation as critical and stressed that the summit should pave the way for a just peace and in-depth discussions involving the three countries. Recently, Zelenskyy also met with European leaders and arranged a meeting with the French president to follow the U.S.-Russia talks.
