U.S. President Donald Trump temporarily halted discussions in Washington with European leaders to make a phone call to Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to a European Union diplomat.
The talks are expected to continue after the call, which Trump had originally planned to make following consultations with the European delegation, the diplomat said.
Among those present in Washington are the leaders of Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Finland, and the European Union, as well as NATO’s secretary-general, who are accompanying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
