Germany’s foreign minister said on Wednesday that he was fully confident in NATO’s unity and believed the military alliance would continue unchanged. Johann Wadephul emphasised that member states remain aligned and committed to the alliance’s future.

“The United States stands by the defence of the alliance and also stands by its alliance with Europe,” Wadephul said during a joint press conference in Paris alongside his counterparts from India, France and Poland.

He stressed that there was no question about the strength of cooperation within NATO, adding, “I have not the slightest doubt that we stand together in the closest possible unity and that this alliance will remain exactly what it has always been: the most successful defence alliance in the world.”
