El Salvador’s Bukele Says 'I Miss You Already, President T' After White House Meeting

El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele voiced his admiration for former U.S. President Donald Trump following a meeting in Washington, D.C., on Monday. Shortly after the White House visit, Bukele posted on social media, “I miss you already, President T,” signaling a continued alignment between the two leaders.

During their meeting in the Oval Office, Trump praised Bukele, describing him as “one hell of a president” and commending his leadership in El Salvador. The meeting highlighted ongoing cooperation between the two countries on security issues, particularly efforts to combat transnational criminal organizations.

Last week, Trump referred to Bukele as “President B” in a social media post, applauding El Salvador’s role in taking custody of individuals he described as dangerous international criminals. “These barbarians are now in the sole custody of El Salvador, a proud and sovereign Nation, and their future is up to President B and his Government,” the post read.

Bukele acknowledged the statement by sharing a screenshot of it online, drawing attention to the nickname used by Trump.

Trump also floated the idea of potentially transferring violent offenders from the United States to El Salvador, should legal avenues allow. The discussion reflects a broader interest in expanding cross-border law enforcement and public safety collaboration.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio weighed in following the meeting, praising the partnership. In a post, Rubio said that recent deportations of gang members such as those from MS-13 and Tren de Aragua have contributed to a safer United States. He emphasized the shared commitment of both leaders to combat organized crime and uphold security in the Western Hemisphere.
