UK Commits Over $5 Million in Humanitarian Support for Gaza

UK pledges over $5 million in aid to Gaza

The UK has announced a contribution of £4 million (approximately $5.4 million) in humanitarian aid to support civilians in Gaza, according to a government statement made during a visit by Development Minister Jenny Chapman to Israel and the Palestinian territories.

Chapman criticized restrictions on humanitarian access, stating that the limited number of aid trucks entering Gaza is unacceptable. She emphasized that continued hardship for Palestinians will not bring lasting security for Israel.

This aid decision comes as the UK suspended trade negotiations with Israel, citing concerns over the recent military actions in Gaza. Foreign Secretary David Lammy has urged for an end to the blockade preventing aid from reaching those in need.

The aid will be channeled through the British Red Cross in coordination with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.
