US Vice President JD Vance has renewed his call for Kansas voters to support Republican Senator Roger Marshall, making a fresh campaign appearance as the closely contested Senate race enters its final stretch ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
Speaking at a manufacturing facility in Topeka on Monday, October 26, Vance praised Marshall’s leadership and urged Republican voters to mobilise behind the incumbent, framing the contest as a choice over economic policy, national leadership and the future direction of the country.
Vance highlighted Marshall’s cooperation with President Donald Trump’s administration, pointing to tax policies affecting overtime pay, tips and Social Security. He also argued that Republican policies on energy production and manufacturing would better serve American workers and strengthen the country’s economic position.
The vice president’s visit follows Trump’s recent campaign rally in Kansas, underscoring the importance Republican leaders attach to retaining the seat. Marshall is facing Democratic challenger Adam Hamilton, a prominent United Methodist pastor who has campaigned on economic pressures, healthcare costs and the impact of federal policies on ordinary Kansans.
Despite Kansas’s longstanding Republican voting history, recent polling has indicated a tight contest, prompting an intensified effort by national Republican figures to rally support for Marshall. Vance urged voters not to take the state’s traditionally conservative political alignment for granted, stressing the need for strong turnout.
The Kansas Senate race has broader national implications, as Republicans and Democrats compete for control of the US Senate and House of Representatives in the November midterm elections.
With Election Day approaching, Marshall’s campaign will depend on converting Republican support into votes, while Vance’s visit signals the party’s determination to defend the seat and maintain its influence in Washington.
