The Russian government has indicated that President Vladimir Putin is open to discussing a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine, but remains focused on fulfilling key objectives. A senior official stated in a televised interview that while peace is the aim, it is a complex and lengthy process that demands significant effort.
The official noted that global audiences have grown used to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s often strong rhetoric, but emphasized that Trump has also expressed a willingness to pursue a peace agreement regarding the conflict.
“President Putin has consistently voiced his commitment to ending the situation in Ukraine through peaceful means as soon as possible,” the official said. “However, what matters most to us is achieving our clearly defined goals.”
Meanwhile, Trump has recently adopted a more assertive approach toward Moscow, promising increased military support to Ukraine, including advanced missile defense systems. He also issued a 50-day ultimatum for Russia to agree to a ceasefire or face further sanctions.
