Trump Says U.S. Reviewing Options on Iran as Tensions Escalate

U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States is actively reviewing a range of options regarding Iran, warning that a decision would be made soon as Tehran begins to cross what he described as an established “red line.”

Speaking to reporters, Trump said Washington was considering “strong measures” in response to Iran’s recent actions, without providing specific details. His comments come amid heightened tensions following Iranian threats to target U.S. interests in the region should America carry out any military action.

Asked about those warnings, Trump stressed that any attack on U.S. forces, allies or assets would trigger a forceful and unpredictable response. “If they do something, we will respond in a way they won’t be expecting,” he said, underscoring the administration’s hardline stance.

Relations between Washington and Tehran have deteriorated sharply amid protests inside Iran, accusations of human rights abuses, and growing concerns over Iran’s regional activities and military posture. The U.S. has accused Iran of destabilising the Middle East through proxy groups, while Iranian leaders insist they are defending national sovereignty against foreign pressure.

Analysts say Trump’s remarks signal a willingness to escalate pressure while keeping military, diplomatic and economic options open. Regional allies remain on alert, fearing that miscalculation could spark a wider confrontation involving U.S. forces, Israel and Iran-backed militias.

The White House has not clarified what specific actions might constitute crossing the “red line,” but officials say all options remain on the table as Washington weighs its next steps.
