UK Delegation Eyes Tourism and Investment Opportunities in Uganda

A high-level United Kingdom delegation is preparing to visit Uganda to explore tourism and investment opportunities across key sectors, as Kampala seeks to deepen economic ties with London.

Uganda’s High Commissioner to the UK, Ambassador Nimisha Madhvani, briefed Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja on the upcoming visit, which will include a 16-member delegation made up of British lawmakers and business leaders. The delegation is expected to focus on strategic sectors including agriculture, mineral development, finance, healthcare, and sovereign wealth fund investments.

According to Ugandan officials, the visit is part of broader efforts to attract foreign direct investment and promote Uganda as a stable and attractive destination for long-term partnerships. Authorities say special emphasis will be placed on tourism promotion, value-addition in agriculture, and responsible exploitation of mineral resources.

Government officials are also working to ensure that visiting investors are connected with the relevant ministries, departments, and agencies to support structured engagements and facilitate effective negotiations. This coordinated approach is intended to streamline investment discussions and align proposals with Uganda’s national development priorities.

The visit comes as Uganda continues to position itself as a regional investment hub in East Africa, leveraging its natural resources, growing population, and improving infrastructure. Uganda and the UK have maintained longstanding diplomatic and economic relations, with British firms already active in sectors such as energy, finance, education, and agribusiness.

Officials say the outcomes of the visit could lead to new investment commitments and expanded cooperation, particularly as Uganda seeks to boost private-sector-led growth and diversify its economy.
