Cuban authorities are reportedly holding six wounded individuals from a Florida-registered speedboat at a provincial hospital following Wednesday’s deadly confrontation off Villa Clara Province. The incident, which Cuban officials described as an armed attack, previously left four people dead and six others wounded.
The six injured suspects are being treated under tight security at the Arnaldo Milian Castro Provincial Clinical Surgical Hospital in Santa Clara. Local sources report that Cuban security personnel are closely monitoring hospital entrances and limiting access to journalists and outside observers.

On Feb. 25, Cuban border guards engaged a Florida-registered speedboat that entered Cuban territorial waters near Cayo Falcones. According to the Cuban Interior Ministry, those aboard the vessel fired on a patrol boat, prompting return fire from Cuban forces. Four people on the speedboat were killed and six were wounded and taken into custody.
Weapons reportedly seized from the boat included assault rifles, handguns and tactical gear. Cuban officials have described the incident as an attempted terrorist infiltration, claiming that the attackers intended to carry out violent operations on Cuban soil.
Suspect Identities and Arrests
Cuban authorities have identified some of the passengers as Cuban nationals living in the United States. Names released include Amijail Sánchez González, Leordan Enrique Cruz Gómez and Michel Ortega Casanova, the latter among the four killed. Another individual Duniel Hernández Santos, was reportedly arrested on land in connection with the operation and has allegedly confessed to participating in the plot.
The six hospitalized suspects remain under tight guard and authorities have not yet disclosed whether any formal charges have been filed.
