U.S. and Turkey Expected to Discuss Defence, Trade and Regional Security
U.S. President Donald Trump has departed Washington, D.C. aboard Air Force One for the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey.
Before departing, President Trump described Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as “a friend” and “a respected leader,” expressing optimism that the visit would further strengthen defence cooperation between the two countries.
Upon his arrival at the Presidential Complex, President Trump is expected to take part in an official state arrival ceremony before holding bilateral talks with President Erdoğan.
The two leaders are expected to discuss defence cooperation, trade, investment, and broader regional issues as part of efforts to deepen strategic ties between Washington and Ankara.
The NATO summit, which begins today in Ankara, will also bring together allied leaders to discuss regional security challenges, ongoing conflicts, and the alliance’s collective defence priorities.
