U.S. President Donald Trump delivered one of his strongest critiques of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) during the 36th NATO Summit, urging member states to significantly increase defence spending while insisting that the United States should no longer bear what he described as a disproportionate share of the alliance’s security costs.
Speaking alongside world leaders, Trump reaffirmed his commitment to NATO’s collective defence principle but argued that the alliance must become more balanced, with European members taking greater responsibility for funding their own security.
Trump Pushes for Higher Defence Spending
