No Tsunami Warning Issued After Offshore Quake

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of the southern Philippines in the Mindanao region, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres beneath the seabed.

Authorities said no tsunami warning was issued, and there were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage to infrastructure.

Emergency officials are continuing to monitor the situation as assessments are carried out in affected coastal communities.

The Philippines lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, one of the world’s most seismically active regions, where several major tectonic plates converge, making the country prone to frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity.
