Pastor John MacArthur, leader of Grace Community Church in California, has sharply criticized former U.S. infectious disease official Dr. Anthony Fauci, calling him “a classic illustration of a guy no one should trust” during recent public remarks that have attracted renewed national attention.
MacArthur’s comments come as congressional investigations into the U.S. Covid-19 response continue to intensify, with lawmakers reviewing newly released documents and testimony related to Fauci’s role during the pandemic.
The pastor’s remarks have circulated widely following recent developments involving Senator Rand Paul and former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. Paul has released more than 1,000 pages of Fauci’s personal diaries and related records, while Gabbard has publicly discussed declassified intelligence materials concerning the origins of the coronavirus and U.S.-funded research involving the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Critics of Fauci argue that the documents raise questions about whether federal officials sought to minimize discussion of a possible laboratory-related origin for the virus during the early stages of the pandemic.
