Trump made the announcement in a post on Truth Social, describing the 28-year-old Leavitt as “one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the history of the office.” He credited her with playing a key role in his political movement since 2018, including the 2024 re-election campaign.

Leavitt later confirmed her departure, calling her time in the White House “the honor and adventure of a lifetime.” She described the decision as “bittersweet” and said she plans to step back in order to spend more time with her young family after recently returning from maternity leave following the birth of her second child.

Although she is leaving her official government position, Leavitt is expected to remain closely aligned with Trump as an outside communications adviser and Republican political operative.
