Broadcast Makes Threats Against 20-Year-Old Barron Trump
Iranian state television has aired a video targeting Barron Trump, the 20 year old son of U.S. President Donald Trump, amid a sharp escalation in threats against the president and members of his family.
The roughly three minute broadcast, reportedly aired on Channel 3 and circulated through media linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), made serious claims about Barron’s security and movements.
According to reports, the video was titled “Where and how should we kill Barron Trump?” and claimed that Barron’s movements had been “fully monitored.”
The broadcast also reportedly alleged that a $10 million bounty had been placed on Barron and claimed that information about his security arrangements, movements and personal activities had been gathered.
Iranian state television further alleged that a woman had managed to get past Barron’s U.S. Secret Service protection, met with him privately and subsequently passed information to individuals involved with the programme.
However, the reported bounty and the claims concerning Barron’s movements, security arrangements and alleged access to him could not be independently verified.
The broadcast comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, with the Trump administration and Iranian authorities engaged in a broader confrontation involving military, political and security issues.
The targeting of a member of the president’s immediate family represents a particularly serious escalation in the rhetoric surrounding the confrontation.
Barron Trump is a private citizen and is protected by the Secret Service because of his status as the president’s son. Security details surrounding protected individuals are generally closely guarded, making claims about specific movements or vulnerabilities difficult to independently establish.
