Moscow Leaves Door Open to Russia-US-China Trilateral Presidential Meeting

Moscow has not ruled out a possible trilateral meeting involving the presidents of Russia, the United States and China, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, in comments reported by a state news agency.

Russia Says Agenda Must Come First

Ryabkov indicated that Moscow is open to considering a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. However, he stressed that discussions over the agenda and expected outcomes would need to take place before formal preparations begin.

The comments suggest that the proposal remains under consideration rather than being a confirmed summit.

APEC Summit Could Provide Opportunity

The possibility of a three-way meeting was previously raised by Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov. The leaders could potentially meet on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Shenzhen, China, in November.

A meeting involving Putin, Trump and Xi would bring together leaders of three of the world’s most influential powers at a time of significant geopolitical tensions.

Global Issues Could Dominate Talks

While no agenda has been finalized, such a meeting could provide an opportunity to discuss major international issues, including global security, trade, economic relations and the war in Ukraine.

The development comes as Washington and Moscow continue diplomatic contacts over the Ukraine conflict, while the United States and China are also navigating complex economic and strategic relations.

No Formal Summit Yet

For now, Moscow’s position amounts to an openness to the idea rather than confirmation that the three presidents will meet. Further discussions will be needed to establish whether a summit would serve a clear diplomatic purpose and what issues would be placed on the table.
