More Than 300mm of Rain Leaves Roads Submerged as Authorities Warn Flooding Is Not Over

A flood emergency has been declared across Bangkok, Thailand, after more than 300 millimetres of rain fell across the capital since Thursday, submerging roads and disrupting movement in several parts of the city.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration said rainfall had eased on Sunday, but warned that the threat had not passed. Water levels remain high across the city’s canal network, raising concerns that flooding could continue even after the heavy rain has subsided.

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has urged residents to remain cautious as authorities continue monitoring water levels and managing drainage in affected areas.

Residents have been advised to stay at home where possible, while people living near the city’s network of canals have been urged to move vehicles, household belongings and other valuables to higher ground or upper floors.
