October Declared the Month of Mercies During Global Communion Service

A MONTH TO EXPERIENCE GOD’S COMPASSION, LOVING KINDNESS AND FAITHFULNESS

October has been declared the Month of Mercies, with Pastor Chris Oyakhilome encouraging believers to experience the mercies of God in every area of their lives.

The announcement came during the October Global Communion Service, where Pastor Chris shared a powerful teaching on the nature of God’s Kingdom, the life of the Spirit and the depth of God’s compassion towards His children.

At the heart of the message was the understanding that those who are born again have the capacity to see and live according to the realities of the Kingdom of God.

LIVING FROM THE INSIDE OUT

Taking the congregation to John chapter 3, Pastor Chris reflected on Jesus’ conversation with Nicodemus.

Jesus said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Pastor Chris explained that there is an outward man and an inward man. The outward man relates to the flesh, while the inward man is the spirit, which is renewed day by day.

Referencing 2 Corinthians chapter 4, he highlighted the distinction between things that are seen and things that are not seen. The things that are seen are temporal, while the things that are not seen are eternal.

He explained that the believer has the capacity to see beyond the physical through the Spirit.

Pastor Chris emphasized that God’s desire is for His children to “live from inside out” and to live by the Spirit.

When believers live by the Spirit, they are not controlled by circumstances around them. They can remain unperturbed, unmoved and unafraid because they know they are victorious from the Spirit.

CARRYING THE BLESSINGS OF GROWTH FORWARD

Pastor Chris also reminded the congregation that the blessing of one month should not be left behind when a new month begins.

September was the Month of Growth, and he encouraged believers to take the blessing of growth into October.

“Every blessing that comes in each month must not pass with the month. Take it along with you,” he said.

The instruction means that the growth experienced in September continues to accompany believers into the new month, together with the blessings received in previous months.

Pastor Chris encouraged the congregation to remain conscious of their blessings and to continually acknowledge that they are blessed.

OCTOBER: THE MONTH OF MERCIES

The central announcement of the service was the declaration of October as the Month of Mercies.

Explaining the meaning of God’s mercies, Pastor Chris highlighted God’s loving kindness and covenant faithfulness.

He described this as God’s commitment to be favourable to His children according to His Word.

He also explained the depth of God’s compassion, using the biblical picture of a mother’s natural compassion for her child.

Isaiah 49:15 says:

“Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee?”

Pastor Chris explained that this speaks of a deep, visceral compassion the kind of response that comes naturally because of relationship.

He illustrated the point with the account of King Solomon and the two women who claimed the same child. When Solomon ordered that the living child be divided, the true mother immediately pleaded for the child’s life, choosing to surrender the child rather than see him killed.

The mother’s response revealed her compassion.

Pastor Chris connected this with God’s heart towards His children, emphasizing that God responds to His children because they belong to Him.

He then declared:

“This month is a month of mercies. You’re going to experience the mercies of God and the Raham mercies of God, the mercies of God towards you and in your life.”

NEW MERCIES EVERY MORNING

The message further emphasized the continual nature of God’s mercies.

Pastor Chris referenced Jacob’s prayer in Genesis 32, where Jacob acknowledged the transformation that had taken place in his life. He remembered crossing Jordan with only his staff and returning with much more.

The message then turned to Nehemiah chapter 9 and God’s dealings with the children of Israel in the wilderness.

God’s manifold mercies were demonstrated through His continued presence, guidance and protection. The pillar of cloud led them during the day, while the pillar of fire provided direction at night.

Pastor Chris emphasized that God’s mercies remain available to believers today.

“His mercies are new every morning, fresh every day.”

He encouraged believers to experience God’s mercies in their homes, their work, their finances and in everything that concerns them during the month.

A MONTH OF MERCIES AND HEALING

The October message also comes as the Church prepares for the Healing Streams Live Healing Services, scheduled for October 23–25.

During the Global Communion Service, Pastor Chris spoke of the healing grace of God and the expectation that many would be healed.

He also called on ministers of the Gospel around the world to work together to make the Healing Streams event a significant global moment for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.

As October unfolds, the Month of Mercies carries a message of God’s compassion, loving kindness and faithfulness.

Believers are encouraged to remain conscious of God’s mercies, live by the Spirit and carry forward the blessings received in previous months.

October is the Month of Mercies.
