Washington and Riyadh Announce Framework for Nuclear Cooperation

U.S. President Donald Trump says a new agreement with Saudi Arabia on a civilian nuclear programme will require the kingdom to normalise relations with Israel through the Abraham Accords.

President Trump made the remarks after the United States and Saudi Arabia announced the framework agreement, which would allow Riyadh to enrich uranium and develop civilian nuclear reactors using U.S. technology.

According to the announcement, the arrangement would not require the same snap United Nations inspection mechanisms that Washington has previously demanded for Iran’s nuclear programme.

Saudi Arabia has long maintained that any normalisation of relations with Israel is linked to broader regional considerations, making the issue a central point in discussions surrounding future diplomatic ties.

The proposed agreement marks a significant development in U.S.-Saudi relations and is expected to draw close international attention because of its implications for regional security, nuclear cooperation, and Middle East diplomacy.
