South Africa’s IEC has stressed the importance of registering to vote in the 2024 elections, ahead of the national registration weekend on the 18th and 19th of November.

IEC Chief Electoral Officer, Sy Mamabolo, says with approximately 26.2 million of the 39 million eligible voters in South Africa currently on the voter’s roll, it is important to increase participation in elections.

The commission says registration weekends provide the greatest response compared to other methods such as online registration.
