Kenyan President William Ruto discusses US visit, supporting Haiti

KENYAN PRESIDENT WILLIAM RUTO DISCUSSES US VISIT, SUPPORTING HAITI

This week, Kenyan President William Ruto garnered attention by becoming the first African leader to be honored with a state visit to the White House. President Joe Biden commended Kenya for its leading role in combating gang violence in Haiti.

However, on the same evening as their state dinner, a tragic event unfolded as a group of missionaries, including Americans, fell victim to gang violence in Haiti. Ruto has committed to deploying additional troops to Haiti to address the escalating gang activity, despite facing criticism alleging alignment with U.S. interests.

President Joe Biden has announced his intention to designate Kenya as a major non-NATO ally, making it the first in sub-Saharan Africa.
