The Russian government has called for the US ambassador to Moscow to appear in protest against a lethal Ukrainian assault on Crimea, alleging the use of US-supplied ATACMS missiles.
Authorities in Sevastopol, governed by Moscow, stated that the assault on Sunday resulted in four fatalities and 153 injuries, including children.
During the meeting, the foreign ministry informed the US ambassador that by supplying Ukraine with advanced weaponry, the United States has effectively entered into the conflict. It asserted that the US shares “equal responsibility” alongside Ukraine for the incident and cautioned that “countermeasures will inevitably ensue.”
In defense of the attack, Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak remarked on Monday that Crimea is unequivocally under Russian occupation and remains a theater of full-scale warfare.
Simultaneously, officials in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, reported that the town of Pokrovsk had been struck by two Russian short-range Iskander missiles. The attack resulted in at least four deaths and injured 34 others, including children.
