ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER SAYS MEDIA AND SOCIAL MEDIA HAVE BECOME A NEW BATTLEGROUND
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described what he called a “war for truth” against Israel, saying the battle is being fought across international media, social media platforms and other institutions.
Speaking during his address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 24, Netanyahu described the information battle as an “eighth front” alongside the military conflicts involving Israel.

Netanyahu said Israel’s soldiers had been fighting a multi front war for three years, but argued that the country was also facing an information campaign overseas.
“There’s an eighth front to this war. It’s the war for truth,” Netanyahu said, describing it as a battle taking place in the world’s media and, particularly, on social media.
He accused several foreign countries of spending what he described as “untold billions” to spread what he considers false information about Israel.
Netanyahu specifically named Qatar and Türkiye, accusing them of supporting narratives hostile to Israel. He also criticized international media coverage of Israel’s military campaign and broader policies.
FOCUS ON YOUNGER GENERATIONS
The Israeli prime minister said the alleged information campaign was intended to influence younger audiences and turn them against Israel, the United States and Western countries.
His comments reflect a broader argument from the Israeli government that international public opinion and digital platforms have become increasingly important in the country’s wider security environment.
At the same time, Netanyahu’s characterization of foreign media coverage and the allegations he made against other governments remain his claims, rather than independently established facts.
NETANYAHU DEFENDS ISRAEL’S RECORD
The prime minister also used his UN address to reject allegations that Israel’s military operations in Gaza amounted to genocide.
Netanyahu described the genocide accusation as false and said Israel had taken steps to protect civilians. International organizations and governments have offered differing assessments of Israel’s conduct in Gaza, making the issue one of the most contested aspects of the conflict.
Netanyahu also defended Israel’s military and praised the cooperation between Israel and the United States, particularly under President Donald Trump.
