Trump Says China and Russia Are Not Helping Iran, Dismisses Claims of Foreign Support

US President Donald Trump has said he does not believe China and Russia are helping Iran in the ongoing conflict, arguing that both countries have too much to lose by becoming involved in Tehran’s war effort.

In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform late on Monday, Trump responded to claims by critics that Beijing and Moscow were assisting Iran. He said that even if such assistance existed, it would be at a very low level, adding that the United States would quickly discover any involvement.

Trump has previously described Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin as neutral in the conflict. He has also warned both countries against providing military support to Iran.

China and Russia Maintain Ties With Tehran

Despite Trump’s assessment, China and Russia maintain close relations with Iran. Beijing has criticised US attacks on Iran, describing them as violations of Iranian sovereignty, while Moscow has warned that the conflict could increase the risk of a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.

Questions about possible Chinese assistance have persisted following reports alleging that Chinese entities supplied Iran with shoulder-fired air-defence equipment and helped Tehran circumvent restrictions on oil sales. Trump has also previously dismissed reports suggesting that Iranian forces obtained satellite imagery of a US military base in Jordan through Chinese sources.

The allegations have raised concerns about the possibility of the conflict expanding beyond the countries directly involved. China has denied accusations of providing military assistance to Iran.

Conflict Continues to Raise Regional Security Concerns

The war began on February 28, 2026, following US and Israeli attacks on Iran, which responded with strikes against Israel and Gulf states hosting American military bases. The fighting has caused thousands of deaths and displaced millions, according to Reuters.

Trump’s latest remarks suggest that Washington does not currently believe Beijing and Moscow are directly supporting Tehran on a significant scale. However, allegations of military assistance and sanctions evasion continue to complicate relations among the major powers as the conflict persists.
