Qatar Urges Immediate Reopening of Strait of Hormuz Amid Rising Regional Tensions

Qatar has called for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, warning that any disruption to the critical shipping route is unacceptable and poses serious global risks.

Speaking on behalf of the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spokesperson Majid al-Ansari stressed that the strait must not be used as political leverage under any circumstances. He cautioned that continued disruption could severely impact global energy flows, food security, and international supply chains.

Al-Ansari confirmed that no Qatari vessels are currently transiting the waterway, citing safety concerns amid escalating tensions in the region. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most vital النفط and trade corridors, handling a significant portion of global oil shipments.

At the same time, Qatar reaffirmed its support for mediation efforts led by Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic solutions to de-escalate the situation. Officials highlighted ongoing coordination with regional and international partners to ensure stability and prevent further disruption.

The latest developments come as concerns grow over the security of key maritime routes, with global markets closely monitoring the situation for potential economic fallout. Further updates are expected as diplomatic efforts continue.
