Leaders of Japan, China, South Korea adopt joint declaration

South Korea’s President Yoon Suk-yeol has announced that he, along with the leaders of Japan and China, has endorsed a joint declaration, reaffirming their commitment to collaborating closely towards regional peace and prosperity.

Yoon made the declaration during a joint press conference alongside Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and Chinese Premier Li Qiang, following their discussions on Monday.

This summit marks the first meeting involving the three countries in nearly four and a half years.

Yoon emphasized to reporters that the cornerstone of cooperation among the trio lies in mutual understanding and trust, underscoring the necessity for frequent meetings among their leaders to foster communication.

He highlighted that the three leaders have agreed to enhance the transparency and predictability of the trade and investment environment while establishing a secure supply chain.

Furthermore, they have pledged to cooperate on addressing environmental and other pertinent issues.

Yoon also addressed North Korea’s plan to launch what Pyongyang terms an artificial satellite between May 27 and June 3, labeling it a blatant violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions. He stressed the imperative for the international community to respond resolutely to such actions.
