China and Belarus Strengthen Strategic Partnership
Chinese President Xi Jinping has held talks with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Beijing, as the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations.
President Lukashenko’s visit is aimed at strengthening what both governments describe as an “all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership,” reflecting increasingly close diplomatic and economic ties between China and Belarus.
Expanding Cooperation
The two leaders discussed continued cooperation across several key sectors, including:
- Trade and investment.
- Industrial development.
- Science and technology.
- Infrastructure projects.
- Coordination through multilateral organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
China has consistently viewed Belarus as an important partner in Europe, with relations between the two countries expanding steadily in recent years.
Belarus Seeks Economic Opportunities
For Belarus, closer cooperation with China offers important economic opportunities as the country continues to face Western sanctions linked to its support for Russia.
Beijing has maintained strong political and economic engagement with Minsk despite increased geopolitical tensions.
Shared Vision for a Multipolar World
During previous exchanges, President Xi has described Belarus as a “true friend,” while President Lukashenko has repeatedly emphasized the two countries’ shared support for a more multipolar international order.
The meeting underscores ongoing efforts by both governments to strengthen strategic cooperation amid shifting global geopolitical dynamics.
